  • Show changes and infrastructure events alongside errors to pinpoint potential root causes.

  • Enable root cause investigation by correlating incidents with change data and infrastructure data.

Integrating Onepane with New Relic helps you pinpoint the exact cause of incidents in New Relic. By analyzing changes (code updates, configurations) and deployments along with incidents. Imagine seeing exactly which change triggered the error, saving you tons of troubleshooting time.

Overview

The process of integrating Newrelic in Onepane requires the following:

  • Create an API key for Onepane in New Relic

  • Create an Ingest license for Onepane in New Relic

  • Add Key to Onepane

STEP 1: Create an API Key in New Relic

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to create an API key and Ingest license for getting New Relic data into Onepane.

Step 1: Sign in to the New Relic Portal

  • Open your web browser and navigate to the Newrelic Portal.

  • Sign in with your New Relic credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to the API keys section

  • In the New Relic Portal, click on the "Profile" menu from the left sidebar.

  • Click on API keys. This will open a window that lists all API keys in the system.

Step 3: Create an API key

  • In the API keys section click on the "Create key" button.

  • Key type: Select User for the key type.

  • Name: Provide a proper name for the key

  • Notes (optional): leave it empty

  • Click on 'Create key'

Step 5: Copy the API key

  • In the API keys window search for your key

  • Click on the 3 dots on the right side of the key

  • Click on the 'Copy key'. And save it in a secure location

Step 6: Create an Ingest license

  • In the API keys section click on the "Create key" button.

  • Key type: Select Ingest license for the key type.

  • Name: Provide a proper name for the key

  • Notes (optional): leave it empty

  • Click on 'Create key'

  • Repeat step 5 to get the key

Step 7: Store Application Information Securely

  1. Keep the keys, including the ingest license, in a secure location. These details will be used to authenticate and authorize your application to access New Relic resources by Onepane.

That's it! You've successfully created an API key with the necessary permissions for integrating with New Relic resources and incident alerts.

STEP 2: Integrate Newrelic with Onepane

Connect New Relic

  • Open Integrations from the menu

  • Click on Add Integration

  • Select New Relic from the list of connectors

  • Please provide a Name for your connector that will help you identify it in case you have multiple connectors.

  • Provide credentials and test if the credentials are valid or not

  • Please wait for some time to get the connector to Status to Running

  • Once the connector is running, open the connector configuration view. You can see Basic configurations there. Onepane automatically correlates resources across platforms. you can edit these auto-mapped resources later as well.

  • Once the integration is completed Onepane will send the event from multiple platforms for the corresponding New Relic entity.

STEP 3: Correlating Newrelic incidents with changes detected by Onepane

Step 1: Check for Incidents:

  • Go to the "Alerts & AI" section to look into any reported incidents in more detail.

  • Look over any triggered incidents in the "Alerts & AI" section.

Step 2: Identify Relevant Service:

  • After determining which service is impacted by the incident, move on to the "Change Tracking" section to review the most recent modifications about that particular service.

  • Find the deployments for the impacted service under the "Change Tracking" section. This will facilitate the understanding of the modifications that may have resulted in the incident.

Step 3: Analyze Infrastructure Events:

  • Continue to the "Infrastructure Events" section to examine any recent occurrences related to infrastructure.

Step 4: Review Infrastructure Changes and Deployment Changes:

  • By correlating deployment change and infrastructure change from Onepane with New Relic, you can enable faster root cause identification for the incidents.

With these steps in place, you'll be able to investigate incidents by correlating Onepane change data and infrastructure events within New Relic.
